UPVC Replacement Door HandlesThe handles on your doors are worn out over time and will need to be replaced. It is essential to keep the same dimensions as the handles that were previously used when replacing them. The top screw’s location the lever, and the keyhole size are the three measurements that you need to verify. Use the size guide to help you.Inline Lever/LeverA lever or lever door handle is a modern handle that can be installed on new or replacement doors. This type of handle is available in a variety of styles and finishes. This handle is available from a number of manufacturers including Avocet ERA Fullex Hoppe Mila Millenco Yale.Fab and Fix Windsor Inline Sprung Lever Door HandleThe uPVC/Composite handles are made of tough materials and are ideal for multi-point lock doors that require a strong design. The handles are inline and operate from the same spindle and screw fixings so they can be easily incorporated into existing or new uPVC/Composite doors. The spring lever design allows the handle to be set and angled for comfortable operation and is suitable for all users. The handle has been tested for endurance up to 200,000 cycles. This helps ensure that the finish is of high quality and performance over time. The sprung lever is adjustable to fit a wide range of locks. This is particularly beneficial for narrower door frames in which the cylinder is further back. A lever that is shorter can be used on doors with latches that can be opened by the thumb located on the inside.Lever PadThe lever pad upvc handle differs from the lever handles that are commonly found on doors. These handles are operated by one spindle or two spindles, either inline or offset. They are typically employed on UPVC doors with double glazing and come in a variety of finishes & variations. The handles have been tested to a minimum of 200k cycles and are available in various finishes, including White Silver, Chrome, & Gold. The finish meets BS EN 1670:2007 Grade 5 and is also resistant to corrosion, which gives the handle a high level of durability and performance for its intended use.All UPVC handle lever pads include a spindle and screws and can be mounted on a uPVC door. The 211mm backplate fixation centres allow for a bigger handle, which is often a benefit when replacing a damaged or old multi-point door lock mechanism. These handle levers have a spring, which solves the issue of door handles that sag out of horizontal position when they are not being used. When selecting the replacement UPVC handle and spindle it is crucial to match the dimensions of the PZ on the multipoint lock as well as the uPVC door. This measurement is also called the “handle centre” or “cylinder centres which is a crucial aspect to match the correct handles. After you have determined the correct size of PZ it is important to make sure that the lever and push pads are designed to match the American with Disabilities Act compliant handles you require for your door. These are typically square or round with an internal lever and an external push pad.The majority of the UPVC Lever Pads we sell are spring-loaded. This means that they will return to a horizontal position when not in use instead of hanging and possibly sticking in the frame. This helps prevent the draughts and cold air from entering a property. Also, the majority of UPVC handle lever pad style handles are handed that allows you to put them on either side of the door.Euro CylinderCylinder locks are found on uPVC and other kinds of doors. They operate by using a key to unlock a cylinder that then reveals pins which can be aligned to those in the lock body and allow them to rotate a revolving cam, thus opening the door. Euro Cylinders can be fitted with up to six pins with external and internal doors usually needing different levels of security. The selection of a cylinder is vital. It depends on the use that your doors and handles receive. For instance, exterior doors must be secured with a higher security cylinder, while doors inside can be secured with an ordinary cylinder. In addition, some cylinders have extra features that increase security even more, like anti-drill or anti-bump properties.A euro cylinder should be measured correctly to ensure it is the correct size for your door. The cylinder needs to be measured from the screw hole at the center to the ends of the cylinder. This includes the thumb turn, should there be one. It is recommended to do this while the lock is in place, but if this is not feasible, you can take it off and remove it to measure. It is crucial to ensure that there is no extension of the cylinder beyond the handle or escutcheon. This can make it vulnerable to lock snapping attacks. The majority of modern cylinders have been constructed with bump and anti-drill features that are built into their design. They are designed to minimize the chance of attack by forcing cylinders to turn in a new direction. This helps prevent attacks and protect your doors. There are cylinders that are designed to withstand snapping. This is a typical attack on cylinders. A special tool is used to break the break line of the lock, and the front of the cylinder is snapped off. This is a quicker and more convenient method of gaining access than through the use of a multipoint locking system. It also leaves no evidence of the break-in which could hinder insurance claims.Spring CassetteThe spring cassette is located within the base of the door handle backplate, providing a spring solution that returns the multipoint lock handles back to their normal position after usage. The handles had no spring and would droop when the locking mechanism was disconnected. Adding this simple component is one of the best ways to correct this issue and is an effective way to keep your upvc doors from getting stuck in either closed or open position, as these aren’t always easy to manually close by hand. These spring cassettes have been specifically designed to be used with multipoint locks that are sprung but they won’t work with unsprung multipoint handles and you will need to have a bespoke hole cut into the backplate to allow them to fit (please see image for technical diagram). They are a replacement for existing broken or missing cassettes in the backplates of door handles of numerous brands of uPVC doors. They have a square cut-out that can accommodate an 8mm spindle, and they are supplied individually. These spring cassettes are an excellent cost-effective way to fix the problem of your door handles sagging. These spring cassettes are easy to install and will extend the lifespan of your uPVC door. Please contact our team for more information on our wide range of uPVC accessories and spares.
